how to help: donate

The Enrichment Center -An Affiliated Chapter of The Arc Annual Fund provides financial support for Scholarships, Financial Assistance, and Ongoing Operations.

The Annual Appeal:

The Annual Appeal is one component of the Annual Fund in which families and friends in the community contribute financial support to our Center. Gifts or pledges may be made at any time of year and are tax deductible as allowed by law. Gifts may be made in memory or honor of someone special. Acknowledgments are mailed from the Center in recognition of these gifts.

Each dollar is used widely and wisely! The goal of the Center is to give the best possible service to you...your family member...your community. You can help us by giving financial support. Checks should be made payable to: The Enrichment Center-An Affiliated Chapter of The Arc. For additional information, please contact the Angie Huffman at the Center 1-777-0076 x 204 or ahuffman@ec-arc.org .

The Participant Scholarship Fund provides help for those who attend our day program. The Fund helps pay for part of the tuition those in the greatest need.

Leave a Legacy for your Community…

The Endowment Fund:
In 2006, the Enrichment Center Board of Directors established the endowment fund with the purpose of providing needed income for community programs. Gifts made to the endowment fund provide a permanent stream of income for the Center. Annual contributions, bequests, and deferred gifts may be given to the endowment.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

The Center relies on support from individuals and communities to provide the necessary financial resources to ensure that contemporary, enriching programs are available for everyone with need in the community.

A contribution to The Center can be made as an outright gift that comes to the Center now and may be used immediately or as a planned gift, committed now but not received by the Center until a later time. Both outright and planned gifts have tax advantages through charitable deductions or by removing assets from a potentially taxable estate.

OUTRIGHT GIFTS

  • CASH: A gift of cash is the simplest way of making a gift to The Center and allows the highest immediate tax deduction.
  • STOCK: For many donors, a gift of appreciated stock may be more cost effective than a gift of cash.
  • REAL ESTATE: For some donors with significant real estate holdings such as a private residence, commercial property, farm, vacation home, undeveloped land, or any other kind of real estate, using that asset may be an effective way to make a gift.

PLANNED GIFTS

For anyone wishing to make a significant gift to The Center, a planned gift may provide the answer. A planned gift is one made to The Center with the income or other benefits from the donated money or property retained by the donor or other beneficiary for as long as she or he lives. The following are brief descriptions of several types of planned gifts:

  • BEQUEST: The easiest way for a donor to leave cash, securities, personal property, or real estate to The Center is by a will.
  • CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUSTS: A charitable remainder trust enables you to make a gift and still receive an income for life. At the end of your life or at the end of a term of years (not to exceed 20 years), the principal or "charitable remainder" is transferred to The Center to be used as you desire.
  • LIFE INSURANCE : Life insurance can be an effective charitable gift. By making The Center both owner and beneficiary of an insurance policy, for the cost of the premiums, you can assure that The Center will receive a much larger gift at the end of your life. Alternatively, you can sign over to The Center a fully paid policy, in which case you would receive a tax deduction for the policy's replacement value.
  • COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS: A donor makes a gift to a charitable foundation, such as the Winston-Salem Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, and the High Point Community Foundation, and "recommends" a charitable purpose for the contribution.
